Lorraine Tam has been teaching Vinyasa and Yin Yoga since 2004. She came to yoga after many years as a dancer and choreographer, studying everything from ballet to hip hop, Argentine tango to belly dance. Yoga is her way to get calm, clear and centered. She enjoys combining the challenging physicality of Vinyasa with the therapeutic benefits of Yin to bring balance to her life.
Lorraine's graceful, flowing Vinyasa classes place equal emphasis on developing strength, balance, flexibility, breath awareness and mental focus. Her calming Yin classes release deeply held stress and tension, improve flexibility and harmonize chi (energy) flow. Lorraine creates a nurturing space for students to deepen self-awareness and discover freedom in their practice. She hopes students will use yoga to get more in touch with their bodies and become more aware of what goes on in the mind.
Lorraine holds degrees in Biology, Dance and Cytopathology Technology. She completed her initial 200-hour yoga training at White Lotus Foundation followed by over 800 hours of study with her main teachers Suzee and Paul Grilley. Other influences include Sarah Powers, Gil Hedley and Jai Uttal.
